The website for the ambitious project, Kochi Metro Rail, (kochimetro.org) is now more user-friendly. The old version of the website has been re-launched with a new one, which is more conveying with an aesthetically better design. The official re- launch of the website was done today by Shri. Aryadan Muhammed, Minister for Electricity & Transport, in an event arranged at KMRL office, Kochi. DMRC Principal Advisor Dr. E. Sreedharan, KMRL MD Shri. Elias George IAS, Kochi Range I. G. K. Padmakumar, District Collector Shri. P. I. Sheik Pareeth IAS were also present at the launch. The new design was also developed by C-DIT the agency which used to manage the website earlier.
The website (kochimetro.org) is a one-stop-centre for all the information related to the project. It gives detailed and updated information about the project and its implementation. The new design will enable public an easy viewing in any devices as it has a responsive design. The route map and the places where the work is in progress is overlaid on Google map to give accurate location.
Descriptions on the necessity of the metro rail project, the aim and target of the project, its detailed plan, technical data, major specialities, land needed for the project, details of land acquisition, day to day progress of the civil works, details about the work sites of the project, etc. are given in the website. Tenders, GO’s, circulars and other documents related to the project will be available on the website and will be regularly updated with new ones. The site will also host career options at KMRL. The officials hope that the website would help provide the people of Kochi, updated information on the project, thus making the operations transparent to the public.
Along with the re-launch of the website, the social media platforms of Kochi metro have also been officially launched. The new website will have the links to the official Social Media Channels of KMRL.
