1501390_699192036768980_2136112560_oThe 16th Director board meeting of KMRL held in Kochi today approved the proposal for the extension of Phase I of the metro line from Petta to Thripunithura.

The extension will be through Pipeline road for 2 kms with 2 Stations in between – Alliance Junction & SN Junction for an additional cost of Rs.323 crore

The meeting also approved availing a loan assistance of 180 million Euro from Agence Francaise de Developpement (AFD) and authorised Managing Director to sign agreements with AFD for this purpose. The loan is for 180 Million EURO for a period of 25 years. (20 + 5 years grace period). Two agreements will be signed in connection with the AFD loan, Credit Facility Agreement with Department of Economic Affairs & AFD on 7th February in Delhi & Project Agreement between KMRL & AFD on 8th February in Kochi.

The board also gave approval for the appointment of Quality and Safety Monitoring Consultants for the project. Deutsche Bank International GmbH,

Germany bagged the contract for safety and quality audit for a remuneration of Rs. 36.7 crore. DB International GmbH is a consortium between DB

International GmbH, Leap Infraasys Pvt. Ltd and SMEC India Pvt. Ltd.

KMRL Board also approved the annual budget for the project for the next financial year. The proposed budget estimate for 2014-15 is Rs. 2398.48 crore. For the current year’s revised estimate was Rs. 1000.97 crores.

The 16th BOD of KMRL took note of the Government Order appointing Shri. M. K. Sinha, Officer on Special Duty (UT), Ministry of Urban Development, Government of India, in place of Shri. C.K. Khaitan, as Director.

The board also discussed about DMRC’s communication regarding retendering of contract awarded to M/s ERA-RANKEN for the reach between Ernakulam Station and Petta (KC-5).The board reviewed the project progress and the schedule of progress for the next few months.
