In the high level review meeting Chaired by Hon’ble Chief Minister Sri. Oommen Chandi, Principal Advisor, DMRC Dr. E.Sreedharan reiterated that the Kochi Metro train will run 18Km from Aluva to Maharaja’s in the first phase by June, 2016. The meeting was also attended by Minister for Power & Railways Sri. Aryandan Muhammed, Chief Secretary Sri. E.K. Bharath Bhooshan, Sri. Elias George IAS Additional Chief Secretary & Managing Director, KMRL, Sri. K.M. Abraham, Additional Chief Secretary (Finance), Sri. M.G. Rajamanickam, District Collec
tor, Ernakulam and the senior officials of KMRL, Revenue & Finance Dept.
It was also decided in the meeting to initiate a process to avail a loan by KMRL for taking up immediate road widening in Vyttila- Petta and other locations. This loan will be taken from banks or financial institutions by KMRL and the repayment will be undertaken by Govt. of Kerala for a period of 10 years through KMRL. This will clear major bottle necks in the progress of Kochi Metro Rail Project.
The meeting also took a call to consider R&R package applicable for all preparatory works, which were done in connection with Kochi Metro Rail Project.
Concern was raised on not issuing the manufacturing clearance for the Rolling Stock which is supposed to be ready by December 2015. Principal Advisor, DMRC assured that the issue can be solved in a meeting to be held on 12th January between MD, KMRL, MD DMRC, Director (Systems) KMRL and Director (Rolling Stock) DMRC followed by a meeting on 13thJanuary with Alstom, DMRC & KMRL. Dr.E. Sreedharan also expressed confidence that the essential work will be done in Muttom depot before the first train comes.
The meeting also discussed about the fund requirements for the project and CM assured that Government will ensure that fund is not a problem as far as metro project is concerned.
