The final appraisal mission from the funding agency of the German Government, Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau (KfW) for KMRL’s Integrated Water Transport Project for Kochi city met the Chief Minister, Transport minister and other senior officials on 5th August, 2015.
A team comprising Mr.Robert Valkovic, Principal Project Manager, Ms. Stephanie Rieger, Senior Project Manager & Mr. Peter Rooney, Technical Expert from KfW Headquarters, Frankfurt and Ms. Usha Rao, Senior Sector Specialist from KfW, Delhi office along with Mr. Joern L. Rohde, Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany, Bangalore Dr. Sayed Ibrahim, Kerala representative of the IGCC and Honorary Consul in Trivandrum with Mr. Elias George, MD KMRL visited the Chief Minister, Mr. Oommen Chandy, Transport Minister, Mr. Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan today to appraise the project and offer co-operation with Government on Kerala. The project is expected to be sent to Government of India for approval by the end of this month.
They also met the Additional Chief Secretary (Finance), Member Secretary (Planning Board) and Member (Planning Board) today. The Transport department put forward a proposal to KfW for the modernisation of KURTC and for creating an integrated transport system with single ticket, single command and control and single time table. The agency expressed interest in funding the proposal and sought a detailed project report from KURTC.
