The Kochi Metro with a successful Test run organized on Saturday gave a brief look at the absolute treat
that it holds in store for the people of Kerala. This endeavor managed to take the whole city by the grip

The test run saw a Metro rail coach covering a distance from Muttom yard to Apollo Tyres, Kalamassery
in total at a speed of 5-10 Kilometre per hour
The trial run started at 5.45 PM when the train with three coaches rolled out from Muttom yard. The
coaches ran through the approach track for about 1 KM from the yard and entered the elevated stretch
along NH 47 connecting Aluva and Maharaja’s College.
The coaches were powered by third rail traction, an innovative method supplying 750V (DC). Two crew
and technical assistants were in the coach during the run.
Test Run was welcomed with loud applause by the crowd that gathered to catch a glimpse and their
unprecedented ensured further ensures, Metro is truly the one for the long course.
DMRC officials gave a green signal by declaring the trial run to be successful and added that the the
results of the run on elevated track will be evaluated. They said that the trial run will be further
extended in a phased-manner beyond Kalamassery to Edappally in coming days.
