A three-member team from AFD (Agence Française de Développement), the French development agency funding Kochi Metro project is coming on a two-day visit to Kochi tomorrow to evaluate the progress of the project and also to discuss the status of Phase 2 extension- to Kakkanad, which is also proposed for the funding from AFD.
The team consisting of Mr. Nicolas FORNAGE, Regional Director for South Asia, AFD, Mr. Cheikh DIA, Project Officer, AFD and Ms. Juliette Le Pannerer (Project coordinator, AFD, Delhi) will visit the project sites along the metro corridor, the depot at Muttom and also the proposed extension alignment to Kakkanad.
After the site visit, the team will have discussions with Elias George, Managing Director, Kochi Metro Rail Limited and other senior officials of KMRL. KMRL and the AFD Mission will also have discussions on the recent and upcoming activities of urban place making initiatives as part of the technical assistance from AFD.
The three-member team from AFD is also planning to visit the Vyttila Mobility Hub, being the main integration point of different modes of traffic in Kochi.
