Significance of the Area:

Edappally, a place in Kochi once ruled by Edappalli Rajas (Kings of Edappalli) is now a bustling locale and one of the busiest junctions in Kerala. Edappally is dotted with developed areas and commercial centres along with the prodigious Lulu Mall, which is forsooth the ultimate shopping destination in Kochi. The people of Kochi have witnessed the development of Edappally from a sleepy town on the south end to a noteworthy business center with big-time stores and five-star inns. The National Highway 17 snakes its ways through Edappally and makes its way to Panvel, Maharashtra. Two of the national expressways NH-47 and NH-17 join the Kochi bypass intersection. The two major religious focuses in Edappally are St. George Syro Malabar Catholic Forane church and Mahaganapathy temple.

The future of Kochi seems bright and obtaining a Metro station in close quarters to Edappally junction is something to look forward to. Kochi Metro Rail Limited (KMRL) has selected Edappally as one of the six major stations with specified aims. Keeping that in mind, KMRL has plans to give a revamp to Edappally junction to attenuate traffic block issues. KMRL outlined the station with separate entry and exit buildings. The Edappally Metro Station and its related infrastrucutre like the entry and exit buildings and interfacing sky bridges are nearly complete and awaiting its commercial operations d-day. Getting a metro station within earshot to Lulu Mall will be a blessing to shopaholics all over the city.
