On 12 September 2019, Kochi Metro crossed a daily ridership of 1 lakh, which is indeed a huge milestone. This is also a first for us since the commissioning of our services two years ago. There has been a steep growth in ridership after the commissioning of the new stretch from Maharaja’s Ground to Thykoodam which was inaugurated on 03 September 2019. The highest registered ridership before this was on September 07, 2019 when it covered 99680 riders. Soon after the commissioning of the Aluva-Palarivattom stretch metro had recorded a high ridership of 98310 on a day. In order to help travellers, especially those visiting Kochi, metro had introduced a day pass and weekend pass system. Day pass can be used for unlimited rides on a single day from any station. The day pass is priced at Rs 125, and a weekend pass, for Saturday and Sunday, is priced at Rs 250.
