Kochi Metro is fast becoming the favourite mode of transport for officegoers, thanks to its uninterrupted, on-time services. The number of passengers during peak hours has increased steadily, especially after the inauguration of the Maharaja’s – Thykoodam stretch. The current average ridership is 60,000 passengers per day on weekdays and 65,000 passengers per day on weekends.

Taking into consideration the convenience of passengers, the wait time between trains has been reduced from seven minutes to six minutes during peak hours – i.e. from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM in the morning and 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM in the evening. This means that there will be 15 trains instead of 13 during weekdays, with a headway of six minutes.

Kochi Metro crossed the 75,000 passenger mark on 20th of October – the inaugural day of the Indian Soccer League 2019 and 21st of October – when the entire city faced severe waterlogging and traffic congestion following heavy rains.
