Kochi Metro, on the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, conducted an online 3-minute short film competition named ‘ATMA’ for aspiring filmmakers. The theme of the contest was ‘greed’, based on Mahatma’s famous quote, “The world has enough for everyone’s needs, but not everyone’s greed.”

The contest, which was open from July to September 2019, received a total of twenty-seven entries of which nine were shortlisted for the second round. The top three winners were chosen from the films that made to the final round and the results were announced in October 2019. The jury panel was headed by Director-Actor Srikanth Murali.

‘Naale’, directed by Sudeep M V, won the first prize along with a cash award of Rs.25,000 for its powerful portrayal of how we are ignoring and exploiting the Earth for our own selfish needs and greed.

‘Walk Way’, a hilarious story of greedy pickpocketed directed by Nikhil Raj, won the second prize and cash award of Rs.20,000.

‘Fish Moly ‘directed by Mujeeb Latheef won the third prize, along with a cash award of Rs.10,000.

The awards were given away by Shri. Alkesh Kumar Sharma IAS, MD – KMRL at a function held in the KMRL office on 25 November 2019, in the presence of Shri. Srikanth Murali, Film Director, and Shri. Thiruman Archunan, Director -Projects.
